From humble beginnings to
international architecture projects...

Imagine Architecture began in 2002 when Tony Biesiek founded the practice under the name Imagine Building Design.

Like many architectural practices, the early days were humble. The business started in a small home office before growing into the historic Kings Building in New Plymouth, later expanding into a busy high-street design studio.

Over time the practice evolved as the scale and complexity of projects increased. In 2021 the studio rebranded as Imagine Architecture to reflect its progression into a design-led architectural practice focused on high-performance buildings and contemporary design.

Today the studio operates from two boutique design studios in Tauranga and New Plymouth, allowing us to stay connected to our regional communities while delivering projects across New Zealand.

Tony’s professional experience also includes significant architectural work in Australia and Italy, where he delivered large-scale projects and gained valuable insights into international design standards and commercial project delivery. During one period, he oversaw the delivery of nearly 160 projects for a multinational client over seven years, experience that strengthened the studio’s systems for efficiency, quality and accountability.

These experiences helped shape the philosophy that continues to guide Imagine Architecture today: architecture should be thoughtful, environmentally responsible, and designed to stand the test of time.

Our portfolio now includes over 1,000 completed projects, covering a wide range of sectors including residential homes, Passive House design, education buildings, civic projects, apartments, commercial facilities and property developments.

Through every project we aim to combine innovative design, technical excellence and strong client relationships.

More than anything, our goal is simple: to create buildings that make a meaningful difference to the people who use them.
